This 'shrinks' the bearings allowing them to be a little easier to install. Of course, make sure they are not crooked (as the article mentions). Good luck, and come back to tell us how it worked out!

George, I think you are talking about the bearing RACES, not the bearings.
No point in putting the rolling part in the freezer unless you plan on roller bearing soup for supper in the future.
