So this is my problem. Got a leak from oil filter cap and leaked on belt.It slipped so I towed home to replace. After cutting belt from pulleys I replaced and now when I Start car it sounds kind of like the cps with the same no turn over but this time it sounds like all starter and not the normal crank and no start. I have a cps and will replace in the morning. I also had a little back fire of smoke. Have you guys run into this?
little more details. 2004 coup 170000 pulleys turn just noise is very electric with none of the turn over kind of sound. Thanks for any advice.
Lets first address that 'oil leak'? Did you just do an oil and filter change? The oil filter cap 'O' ring goes in the
SECOND groove in the cap,
NOT the top groove. People who put that 'O' ring in the top groove found out pretty quickly that oil leaked all over the front of the engine and caused the belt to slip off. Other than that leak, I hope nothing else is wrong. Did you check the oil level after getting the new belt? If it leaked I would suspect a low level. A few more facts might help us to help you further but first please make sure the 'O' ring is in the second groove on that oil cap and the oil level is correct.
