While changing the resistor pack can solve the intermittent fan operation, another cause is the poor connection between boards within the HVAC Control Module in the center console. There is an excellent DIY "write up" by CL770 on this repair in the Forum. 180 also has a copy of this on his page of Crossfire documentation.
Thanks for the suggestion. My resistor pack arrives Friday, so I'll have a chance to check it out...especially since I have some new actions based on comments from ala_xfire. Looks like a busy weekend.
