Three components must have the same shared security code:
1) The chip in the key
2) The SKREEM behind the dash
3) The ECM (PCM)
Keys/chips cannot be reprogrammed to different cars. The keys are only available through Chrysler dealers, or someone that works with dealers. Needswings.com can provide both keys and SKREEMS programmed with the specific security code for specific car VIN. If the ECM/PCM was water damaged replacing the SKREEM and Key alone will not get you going.
I don't recall reading about anyone that has done this but if you replace the Key, SKREEM, and ECM(PCM) all together from another car they would all have the same security code in them, so that could be the ticket. Of course you would not be able to get a replacement factory key unless you proved registration/ownership of the car the parts came from.
BTW, this site is your best source to solve this problem. Most Chrysler dealers no longer have experienced/trained techs for these cars, and Mercedes dealers will not touch them.
