Worth a shot. Watched several videos on this. I'll try it on my Dad's car. His headlights are in need of restoration. If anyone else has done this, please chime in.
I used a brass polish on a set of headlights a couple of times some years back, they looked great for a while then in two or three months they went back to what they were before.
I think the secret is to expose plastic that has not oxidized and polish it. This is done by using coarse grits to get under the oxidized layer and slowly reducing the grit size until a nice polished surface is obtained.
