Price cut on Crossfire replaces big discounts
By Brett Clanton / The Detroit News
DaimlerChrysler AG’s Chrysler Group cut the price of the Crossfire coupe almost 15 percent to under $30,000 to woo customers with lower prices rather than big discounts.
The 2005 Crossfire, due next month, will start at $29,920."
Figure it will be shortly after the new car is out that some dealers will offer deals on a new car in the mid/high $27K (don't laugh, you can go back on this board and see many folks insist NO WAY would dealers sell the current car lower than $30K, yet there they are).
Will probably erode the one thing we Xfire owners enjoy...the jaw dropping, eye popping attention it gets thanks to it's unusual style and rarity. Once new ones, with all the first year bugs ironed out, can be had with a STARTING price in the high $20's...well, we took a bullet for Chrysler.
I expect a car to depreciate, and I know the prices had dropped to below $30K to clear the inventory, but to insitutionalize the lower price....ouch. Guys who leased must be feeling pretty good right about now.
