One day his transmission started slipping on him, so he brought it to the Acura dealer to check it out. If it were not for the fact that I knew the service writer, the service manager would have voided the entire powertrain warranty of the vehicle because, even though these filters make the engine more efficient, "they add power to the transmission above what the transmission is designed to handle." Therefore, voiding the warranty. I'm not trying to discourage people from modifying these cars, just make sure whatever you do is reversible so if you do have a problem that could be related to what you changed, the factory stuff can go back on.
You are incorrect. A K&N filter on your car will not void you warranty.
The story about your friend is useless. Just because someone believes everything they are told and will accept it does not make it fact.
1) There is no proof that the K&N filter will make your engine more efficient. Disagree with me? Post the flow numbers from a new OEM filter and a K&N filter to prove me wrong. Second the dealer needs to prove that the filter caused the damage.
Instead of treating your opinion as fact why don't you try and back it up with quantitative numbers or law.
For example I will use the law to call your claim of almost anything voiding warranties bull ****.
In the US there is a little something called the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act. Not familiar with it? Try Google.
