Crankshaft Position Sensor/Wiring Harness Problem
After hitting a fairly substantial bump in the road my 2005 Crossfire convertible lost all power. I coasted to the side of the road and was able to immediately restart the car but continued to have intermittent power failures.
My mechanic diagnosed the problem as a bad crankshaft position sensor and replaced the sensor but the power failure problems continued, usually when accelerating quickly or going up a hill, but sometimes the car suddenly loses power while travelling at slow or at moderate constant speeds.
I returned the car to my mechanic who found that he could manipulate the ability of the car to start, or to lose power after being started, by jiggling the wire that leads to the crankshaft position sensor. There seems to be a short in the wiring harness and i'm not sure if Chrysler still makes an engine wiring harness replacement part.
Has anyone encountered this problem or know of a potential solution?
