I have the top up almost always but I just bought the car 12/17 I'm sure the wear mark was there when I bought it but didn't notice till later.
this isn't in an area that folds it runs in line with the car front to back and is about 3" long and 1/4" wide and it is 12" forward from the top of the rear window and just about dead center left to right.
