By pulling up on the rear first, the cover can slip out of the air inlet tubes. Works most of the time. I usually remove the air inlet tubes by compressing the tube simply by pulling it away from the air cover. Once the end comes off the air cover, you can simply pull the inlet tube out and get it out of the way. Then the air cover will come of cleanly by simply pulling it up off of its mounting tabs. Again, by pulling up at the rear, it should come off easily.
