The enamel smells powerfully, ask my mom about 60 years ago, she figgured it out when she came home.
I typically do it in the garage when its 60 degrees plus. The paint is put on clean metal, the teflon is on the inside of the manidolds and the exterior should have none on it.
three heavy coats, with about 15 - 20 minutes between coats. Then after about 1/2 hour you ""PAINT"" the object with the heat from a heat lamp or two, moving them as needed to get an even pattern of wrinkle. Doing this in the kitchen is fine at your X's I guess but the car wont be the only one in the garage at night if you do it in your kitchen. It smells like strong varnish for days after drying / curing. Ill do it to mine as soon as the weather hits 60 degrees, and Ill show it then.
