The 113 tb is completely stock. It’s possible it was forced open before I got my hands on it, as it is a used part. I polished the v6 112 part, which is now back in the car with the stock MAF housing, and the car runs nicely again. I believe the issue was the eBay MAF housing not sealing properly, because the car did not run well with the larger MAF and stock, polished 112 TB. I didn’t have the security torx, so I did the change in stages, and was able to see how the car ran with different combinations of parts:
113 TB+113 MAF housing= Symptoms of a vacuum leak, seemingly decent WOT performance once, slow throttle response.
112 TB (polished) + 113 MAF housing- same as above with sharper throttle response
112 TB (polished) + 112 OEM MAF housing - runs well.
So I think my next step is to give it a shot with a used OEM 113 MAF Housing.
A flat head screwdriver with a small slot to clear the post in the security Torz does the job. Using the 112 MAF sensor worked from the moment I switched on the car.
