I changed bulbs in the black car a while back and could not get the plug off one side. Had to remove the clip to remove the bulb with the wiring still attached. I too had trouble reinstalling the clip. Wound up using angled needle nose pliers about 6” long looking in with an adjustable mechanics mirror. Hardest thing was trying to work seeing backwards in the mirror.
