To remove the clip is a waste of time, you can move the wire sideways to get it past the latch while it is still in the hinge points. It does kinda get in the way when you put the bulb in so use that bit of string to hold it up out of the way.
If the bulb is not seated correctly you do not have to unclip the wire spring, you just pull the bulb backward slightly against the spring pressure and relocate it correctly. Unlatching the clip and resetting the bulb in its seat often results in the bulb moving as you try to reseat the clip.
You can feel the bulb click as it seats properly.
