I've tried searching for this problem... but when you don't even know what to search for, you don't get very good results. :-D

I'm getting a code at startup in the odometer area. NO Check Engine Light that stays on, all lights come on and go out in seconds, as they should.
But there's a graphic symbol that looks like maybe a clock face... or a pie with a slice out :-).
This is followed by another symbol, which may or may not look something like a bird's wing or a swoosh with a couple of scallops in it.
And finally "- 628" is displayed. This stays displayed for maybe 10 or 15 seconds and eventually is replaced by the current odometer reading.

Has anyone any idea what this indicates? Thanks in advance for any help or information!
That sign indicates the time for an oil change if it was done correctly, That sign is reset every time an oil change is done, it resets to 7,000 miles I believe. The minus shows up after the 7,000 miles has passed or it means you have 628 miles until an oil change is due. I am not sure but someone will say exactly if it is a before or after number.
It is a new car to you so I would change the oil with Mobil 0W-40, set the FSS sign to be sure it has the correct oil in it and it has a known mileage on the oil.
You can down load the Owners Manual from this site, it is in the Documentation thread. CLICK
