I don't have a solution to your issue, but I do have a warning. If you have liquid gasoline in your evap canister, do not drive your car. Years ago this happened to V6 GM cars. For some reason the evap canister would fill with gas and then when the valve would open to purge the canister, it would suck that gas right into the engine and hydro lock it. Hydro locking an engine when cruising down the highway causes the engine to fly into many pieces. Saw it a number of times.
