Default Re: Glove box light switch

180 - Thanks for your input. I did as you suggested and true, there are a bunch of them. I ordered the one that said it was "new old stock".

For the fun of it, yesterday I went to the manuals that I have from Chrysler, in the first of the three books, and checked my switch assembly per the manual with an ohm meter. If I was doing it correctly, there seems to be good continuity thru the switch and comes on and off with the switch push rod. The manual also told how to check the wiring in the glove box connectors. Did that with the ohm meter also (hope I was doing it right) and it seems like everything with the wiring connectors is OK. Of course, when I tried earlier to get it to work, I did use a brand new bulb. No luck before and no luck after doing the checking with an ohm meter.

Any idea what else could possibly cause this switch assembly not to work? I'll have the new switch by Friday, it say's. I'm still going to put the new switch in. It seems like a very simple straight forward switch except for four wires coming in on one connector plug and two wires coming in on the other plug connector. If I read the manual correctly, some of this wiring also goes to the cigar lighter. I didn't try that (cigar lighter) since I don't use it. By the way, the fuse, #31, is fine.

If you have any idea's what might be contributing to this problem, I'd sure like to hear them. If anyone has any ideas, let me know. I guess I shouldn't be so concerned about it since we get into the glove box so little, but I just want everything to work as it should. If I ever go to sell the car I can do it in good conscience.

Thanks,

Jim
