Well feel a bit daft !!! at further inspection upon applying WD 40 I thought AAAH MAYBE !!!. It turned out that because I have put chrome effect overlays on the handle (ye some would say chrome fluff ), that was protruding by about a 16th. When I pushed it in around the keyhole with one thumb and used the other hand with the key guess what the key worked. That small dimension was enough not to allow the key to fully be inserted.
So just in case anyone else has the same " fluff " on there handles then bare the above in mind, it may save you a extensive round trip to pick your spare fob up !!!
Also ive now put a set of fob batteries in glove box just in case.
