However, it seems that to get the larger housing, it comes with the larger sensor also, costing mucho $$$$.

Easy thing to do is to install a Needswings CAI like I did and don't worry about the old plumbing.
If you want a replacement sensor you buy the part using a different part number. The sensor has a different number on it.
i stumbled upon the number earlier today but forgot to record the number. It comes with its own tamper proof bit that fits the screws holding it to the MAF housing.
