Default Stored for 4 years. Now won’t start

My wife joined this forum because she has owned her 2005 Roadster since new but in 2015 she brought a new car and laid this one up. Now she wants to get it back on the road for the summer.
Not sure if I done the right thing but I fitted a new battery, checked the levels and tried to start it up. Ignition lights on, turned over well but didn’t start. After several attempts the engine was trying to fire but wouldn’t catch.
To me it seemed like a fuel problem and I noticed when the ignition is turned on the fuel gauge didn’t move so I put a gallon of petrol in the tank. The gauge still didn’t move, not sure if that’s normal! After several more attempts the engine still wants to fire but won’t catch. Believing it is still a fuel problem I checked the the fuel pressure at the test point on the fuel rail. I was expecting petrol to squirt out but it just leaked out and then as good as stopped. Should I purchase a fuel pressure tester and check it properly? I crawled under the car to look at the fuel pump. With the ignition on there is no noise, humming or vibration. However, the pump clicks when the ignition is turned on and again when it is turned off. I’m wondering if the pump is working properly. Does anyone else have any ideas?
