Re: intermittent very hard start.
Well I wish I had read this post earlier. My crank shaft position sensor died and when I had my mechanic replace the crank shaft sensor I had him replace cam position sensor too. Now I had purchased a spare Bosch crank shaft position sensor that I gave my mechanic to use but he then ordered a cam shaft position sensor from his local parts supplier which was of course generic and which of course began giving me this mysterious "hard to start" problem. Not knowing this I read through these threads and found this issue. So I ordered a Bosch cam shaft position sensor, put it in myself, this ones very easy to do, and viola, it worked like a charm.
