I had my 2004 Coupe in this morning for its’ first NYS Inspection. No problems found except for the dreaded Engine Light, ( which I knew to be P0410 because of Advanced Auto”s Free diagnostic )

What I wasn’t aware of were all the additional codes that showed up on my mechanics diagnostics reader..........which I have listed here.



When I picked up the car he showed me all the codes and said I have a 10 day extension for inspection.....so drive for about a day with 20 miles added on the odometer - and if the light doesn’t return, come back and we will sticker the car”. If it doesn’t clear.... we can begin to solve your problems.

.......and here I thought the P0401 was the only error and it might have 3 or 4 different causes......all of which you have nicely detailed on this site.

My question is ....with the procession of all these additional codes, does this pose lots of diagnostics ?.....each with its own problem ?, or all they all somehow related ? Might there be a common denominator that makes this all go away ?

I would add that this garage has been my friend for 30 years. Honest, quick to offer suggestions and heads up on what they see might be potential problems down the road. Not cheap, but I really trust my cars with him, his experience and opinions.
