Re: Silver [color] windshield paint
I picked up my touch up paint from my paint guy this morning. I used the nail polish style brush on a wheel abrasion and a stone chip on the frame. I have a match that makes me happy and I am fussy so lets talk. Paints with this much metallic are often hard to "dust in" and blend because sometimes when color sanded it will show a slightly different shade. Maybe do some color sanding while you build up and then don't sand the final coat, dust on the clear coat and be careful not to burn thru the clear when buffing. I will be doing some airbrush work over the winter and see how it goes on the frame. As far as the wheels go, I only intend to use a fine file and then wet sand the edges with some 400 then touch up using the nail brush applicator for now. Do it withy the tires still mounted. I mostly want to clean up the raspberries on the edges of the rim and figure more will happen over the years. So far now this is my wheel fix plan. Your eyes will never notice. The fix will look better than the rim raspberries.
The paint was mixed from a scanner and when it went into their system this is what it showed: HONDA, Brand Code 3HTMB, OEM Code NH411M, CM0499, Force Silver.
Touch up bottle $16, rattle can $33 ($30 for 3 or more). This is the PPG's paint distributors product. Maybe you can get a store bought rattle can with the Honda number?
Hope that helps. Would be interested in feedback if anyone pursues this.
