I do not know the real answer but someone suggested that maybe they sell more crank position sensors than they do the cam position sensors therefore the manufacturing costs are lower due to the volume they sell. However many, many of our cars have had failed crank position sensors. I also think that people only replace the cam sensor because they get it confused with the crank sensor so therefore they just order both. I think I bought my crank position sensor on Amazon and it was about $25.00 - $30.00 US.
James1549 had a camshaft sensor fail, he replaced it with a non Bosch part which was dead on arrival.
Remember, buy Bosch or you could end up walking home.
