Has anyone had good luck with this model or should I return it for a OEM unit?
I'm considering having the original rebuilt as Preventive Maintenance.
Thank you in advance for any feedback, love the forum.

You need to carry a spare as insurance and peace of mind, so get the old one repaired and keep the new one. I have not heard of troubles with replacement parts. It was the OEM ones that started failing because of poor soldering. Burnt contacts is the other common issue and that seems to be because some of the circuits use relays that are not of high enough duty for the currents and usage involved, that would be the air pump and engine relays.
The problem with the relays was known to Mercedes owners and the problem solved before the Crossfire hit the road.
