Okay, got it off with no damage:
The cap with the two tabs is removed from the fitting. I could not get it off by hand. I used a very small screw driver and got it started near a tab and was able to separate it from the fitting without breaking it. The cap will then slide down the vacuum line and get out of the way. Then you can pull the white part out a little and push the red piece towards the supercharger which releases it's grip on the white part and you pull the white part free and out of the fitting.
