I've resolved to install a 12,000 BTU portable air conditioner in my garage VERY SOON. The only 'work' is drilling a hole in either the wall or the side-door to the outside to duct the hot 'condenser' air to.
Just as big a factor as working in the cool is getting rid of 99% of the bugs!!! (some will always make it past even a closed garage-door)
EDIT: I just ordered one from Walmart.com for $315
