I found this 'foam' thing in the cowl area today while re-installing the chirping siren I replaced the 4.8v single battery into. This part was on the passenger side under the hood hinge. It is light enough to have come from either side. I was surprised it had not fallen into the squirrel fan for the Heat/AC since that is quite a large opening. I found it while making sure all 4 drains were clear (which they were). It is VERY soft foam, and it has a few letters and a MB logo on it. Any one know where it came from? The cowl will not be reinstalled if it is for a vibration abatement or needed for a particular specific reason. Thanks for input if you know what it is! .
It probably goes in hole somewhere to keep noise from coming into the cabin, there is a piece of foam similar to that behind the passenger seat where wires pass into the trunk area. I never could get it to fit as well as it did originally.☹️
