Thanks for the reply, is the resister the thing the three plug connecter goes? I did find a lot of leaves and water when I took the cover for the fan down.
Finding all that water/trash at the fan is a huge CLUE to another problem. Find the post (DIY) for checking/cleaning the drain tubes for the cowl area (below the wipers). That water that pizzaguy mentions gets there from those plugged drains and it overflows into the cavity where the fan is, and all sorts of problems (like pizzaguy said) happens. The longer you wait, the higher the cost to fix!... Good luck getting those drains checked/cleaned and fixing your issues!
