Re: Supercharger add on
Hi
I'm not sure why a supercharger conversion on a manual NA Crossfire isn't possible? I think it would be a great topic for discussion.
This is how I would try and do it:
1. Start with a manual car (a manual car has the pedals, clutch, and its body wiring is set up for no TCU)
2. Fit an SRT6 engine with SRT6 engine wiring harness.
3. Use an SRT6 ECU (coded to cars SKREEM and for a manual gearbox).
Potential issues:
- The bolt spacing pattern on the SRT6 crankshaft may not be the same as the NA crankshaft, there's two different patterns used on M112 & M113 engines (it could be the same but if it isn't just get the flywheel modified).
- You could supercharge the NA engine but its higher compression ratio would limit how much boost you could run (stick with stock pulleys) and make it harder to tune. You'd still need to get the SRT6 wiring harness and all the other parts to fit the supercharger, so I think it's uneconomic.
- The manual transmission coding is an option in the SRT6 ECU, but I've never tried it. The same coding method does however work on the NA ECU and it's tried and tested on manual NA V8 conversions.
Any comments?
