No sir, I did not use testers. I went to the local PPG Automotive paint distributor and gave him the code Mercedes Benz 969 XZA or PAK for the base coat followed up with Gloss clear (2 part catalyzed) from a rattle can. “glamour” clear(name on the can, I didn’t make it up) gloss finish.
The metallic is bolder than the OEM finish
i used Matte on the first pass but I didn’t like how dull it was and I couldn’t get semi-gloss in the rattle can as a 2 part with hardener.
I was to lazy to set up my Painting gear for such a small project. The rattle cans worked great and I like the gloss finish. We’ll see how much I love it when I install tomorrow and go for a spin. I hadn’t given a ton of consideration to a gloss finish on these items. Gloss silver and sunshine in a roadster may become a problem with glare. Will advise once I’m done and will also include images of completed project
