I worked with a brilliant designer once but his designs needed to be simplified as much as possible to increase the profit from the finished article, that was my job. Thankfully he was one of the nicest people you could wish to meet and when I said x number of pieces could be made into one piece he agreed without rancour. He could also do cartoons of people that you recognized at once, I still have a few he did of me.

True, wherever I was stationed that exact thing was in the engineering section of the base engineers. One quick observation, a multi-million building with a high tolerance climate control system (within 2 degrees and 45-55% humidity 24/7) wound up putting the monthly maintenance areas 2ft from the exterior walls. Try to get a person larger than twiggy into there with tools, to work on the system. Had to spend a whole lot after acceptance, to open up the area around the equipment for maintenance. And no one was talked to since the building was a critical building, the $$$ just flowed and flowed (correcting this type of thing).

It would be nice to have the mechanics that work on cars, be there with the engineers when they design all the parts going into said cars. It is this disconnect that makes it extremely hard for service departments (and owners) to access anything needing maintenance or repair. Sadly, the current (and has been for quite a while) trending continues to be make the owner and garages outdated by designing vehicles that need 5 or 6 figure diagnostic machines & tools, to diagnose/repair things coming out of factories anymore. There are many who just want 4 wheels, a steering wheel, motor, and maybe airbags (because of all the distracted drivers playing with all that technology IN these things they now call new cars.

Going to call the people sitting behind a steering wheel 'occupants' from now on, I think!
