Default Re: Spare tire for Crossfire convertible

Keep in mind stock Crossfires do not have limited slip differentials. They have open differentials that are not impacted the same way limited slip differentials are to different size tires.

As we know, donuts are temporary spare tires. They are much smaller than your regular tires and are only meant for short distances until you can get a new full-sized tire.

My oldest son had a Pontiac Firebird (like his dad ). The donut spare tire was three inches shorter in height than the regular tire. The Crossfire rear tire is 26" tall. When inflated the donut tire shown above is 25.1" tall. The
SLK320 the donut came from has a 245/40/17 rear tire and the height is 24.7”. Given spare donut tire's intended use is for short distance emergency travel it's not going to be an issue with having an open differential.
