So, my SRT-6 was sitting for a few years, due to some issues (mainly leaking oil...I thought it was more serious initially than it really was). I'm doing the valve cover re-sealing (new RTV sealant between breather and valve covers, new valve cover gaskets, new spark plugs, etc. When re-seating the driver side breather to the valve cover, I forgot to re-install the oil filler base (the neck that extends the oil cap upwards so its removable with the engine cover in place). However, after cleaning the breather and valve cover, I think this is where the oil leak was really coming from. The breather plate looks like it has a standard oil cap receiver, and this "base/neck's" sole purpose is to move the oil cap up, to be level with the engine cover hole for it.

I'm thinking of just screwing the oil cap directly onto the breather, and forgoing the extender base. This should reduce the number of oil leak failure points, and the only downside I see is that I might need to remove the engine cover to get the oil cap off. Am I missing anything?
