This seal has a tendency to get pushed from between the faces it is fitted between. The foam seal separates from the sticky backing it was originally attached to and this causes leaks.
Leaks into the trunk can ruin the security pump in the trunk. The gap between the faces that trap the seal are not equal so a seal has to be thicker than the largest gap.
I used a seal that I made from a neoprene foam draft seal, you need the type that does not allow air through the bubbles in the foam.
I used 1/8” thick x 3/8” wide closed cell foam draft strip that I slit down the middle to 3/16” wide. Follow the out line of the sticky tape outline not where the foam ended up. I think if I did it again I would use a 1/8” thick x 1/4” wide seal.
Leave a small gap (1/4” wide) at the bottom to allow any leakage to escape.
Sorry, I didn't see the entire post. My stupid phone does that sometimes. Thanks for the help. I will make sure I do this prior to reinstalling. I don't need any leaks.
