Any Indy Fans Here?
Anyone watching the 500? I'm older and remember vividly listening (not watching) the Indy 500 all day with my Dad as he did work around the house. This would have been late 50s-70s when the cars were so much slower that the race took most of the day. AJ, Andretti, Offys, the Turbine cars, the change from the roadsters to the rear engine cars (Jim Hurtibise the last to qualify an Offy roadster, etc. Great memories for me and crap...I got old. And in case anyone wonders....Chrysler almost raced at Indy. They had a Hemi ready to go in '53 that was much more powerful than the Offenhouser but when the owner establishment got wind of how fast it was, the rules were changed at the last minute and the car never did race.
