Re: What did you do to your Crossfire today?
Made some progress today on re-assembling the vertical console and connecting the new stereo's wiring harness to the Metra 70-1786 Harness Adapter for the Crossfire. Had to stop there as I'm waiting on delivery of the antenna adapter needed to go from the OEM antenna cable to the new after-market receiver.
1) Used a couple of 1/2" split cable wraps approx 1.5 inches long, to help center up the HVAC input shafts for air flow management. Took a few tries, but probably saved me some time. And the cable wraps can be left in place as they provide no interference with operation.
2) Placed a piece of electrical tape across the infamous cup holder to keep it from popping up due to my climbing all over lower console during re-assembly. My cup holder is still fully functional!!
3) Upper console faceplate re-installed along with switch module. (Note: I never disconnected & removed the switch plate from the vertical console cover. There was enough cable length to let it just lay against the lower console in the Driver's Well. Saved me some work. Previous pictures show this.)
4) New stereo bracket installed.
5) Pre-wiring of receiver harness to Metra 70-1786 Harness Adapter
6) Wiring Connectors from Crutchfield. These are the simplest connectors I've ever used!
Should be able to finish up tomorrow.
