When in doubt go to Auto Zone, Shucks or Pep Boys, they'll read the fault code for you at no charge. Then all you have to do is look it up the PCode in the service manual and see if it is serious or truly just the gas cap. I am guessing the code for a gas cap issues would be one of the following:

(P0451) FUEL TANK PRESSURE SENSOR PERFORMANCE
(P0452) FUEL TANK PRESSURE SENSOR CIRCUIT LOW - Most Likely
(P0453) FUEL TANK PRESSURE SENSOR CIRCUIT HIGH.
