I hear you and it's a crapshoot looking for something online because not all the listings have the donor car model listed nor the Vins (some do but not all). The seller I"m buying from is in Wisconsin, so at least US-based. If it doesn't work at least I can return it (confirmed with the seller before I bought it).

Unfortunately, it's just one of those things we're going to deal with as the car gets older.
