I've been using one like this for years
On the car, lawnmower and motorcycle
Maintains the battery and keeps it fully charged
Just hook it up and leave it until you drive again
I do recommend plugging it in using a surge protector to be certain that the current coming out of the plug and going into the battery tender can't surge and damage the battery tender or put an unusual power surge to your car
