Update: I checked everything y'all suggested, but no relief. I had been having troubles with the ignition key hanging up where it wouldn't turn and needed to be replaced, reprogrammed, etc. I took into a young independent shop owner who seemed knowledgable after talking briefly. I told him that my battery issues started about the time the ignition started hanging up. He pulled the ignition, removed a pin ? and for about 2 weeks it has been fine, both problems solved. He said that when I turned the ignition off it was still in accessory mode. Whatever, I've got it back on the road. Thanks for all the info.
