Depending on the size , a cat is worth a good buck as scrap. It contains expensive materials like platinum. So make sure you get to keep it, auto repair shops make a good buck from the scrap merchant who comes round to pick them up.
the mechanic was actually very honest. He has a welder he works with so they basically welded where it was falling apart for $60. Beats having to get new ones so I'll take that for now. Thanks for all your posts!
