I know what you mean! Once you get into that space to be able to see what to do, it takes some effort to get back out!
I recall climbing in the trunk to see and work on a few things (antenna) and wished I hadn't.
I kinked myself in there pretty good... the footwell has its disadvantages but thank heaven I put a power rack on passenger side seat as it gives slightly more room than before.
