I successfully removed the cig lighters socket. Seems it had some residue around the ring (maybe a drink spilled) making it "sticky".

So with that victory Im stopping for tonight. Tomorrow is cut the dash day

Then mount the cage for the double din and there will be no "glueing" or double sided tape involved.
