Lots of replacement clusters available on eBay for a pretty affordable price. The mileage appears to be stored in the cluster. The time you take to trouble shoot will be way more than the cost of a replacement.
If you swap cluster, the mileage will be that of the cluster you swapped in from a donor car.
You cannot change the mileage

THAT makes
doing a VIN search before buying a used XF that much more important! Didn't think it was that easy to 'roll-back' a car to a lower mileage...
