Okay, one more question… my wife was talking with her stepdad tonight and he mentioned putting a tube in the (rim, I’m guessing) to keep it from losing air. I know that it’s a temporary fix, if it’s true… Can anyone elaborate on what he meant and if it’s truly a good short term solution?

Depends on if the leak is from a crack in the rim (complete failure if a crack is very dangerous), or the valve stem, or maybe all you need is to 'break' the bead (inside and outside) and clean it completely (along with checking the tire bead to see if there are cuts in it allowing air to slip out). The only other thing I can think of is a tear/cut somewhere in the tire that is allowing air to pass from inside to the outside. If that issue you might be able to use a tube BUT if you still have the TPMS sensor in the rim it'll most likely 'cut' the tube over time (as the tire 'shifts' inside the rim allowing the two to 'rub').
