OK for the u joint a shop needs the centering and pinning took ,,(tool cost 2500 or more so no one wants to get it for one or two jobs a year I did my driveshaft at a shop in north Atlanta called ,,,drive line servive, 770 242 9365 , they center the ujoint with spacers then tac weld them ,,,about $300 ,,new ujoint, Bal both sides of driveshadt and paint
now i think i could do that myself . will do it next time but for now i have a new SRT rebuilt drive shaft
I did u-jont in my subaru that was pinned, just pressed the caps out with the shop press. got it all out ok and the replacement u joint had "C" clips on the back side. not sure if locating one for the XF shaft would be as easy. I can certainly change it and put the washers in, however not a fan of introducing heat to that casting to tack in place. But it's not like i would be getting it beet red though.
