Default New Owner - Hood Issues

Hi, this is my first post in the forum so please be kind!

I have just bought a 2005 Crossfire Roadster as a bit of a stop gap vehicle - car was cheap as the hood does not work. The car's growing on me so it might be around for a while!

Reading into the hood issue, the symptoms are different to any I have read on the net so far. Basically the car doesn't get past what I'm calling "stage 1", i.e. when I release the catch and push the roof up, the windows don't drop. No roof switch illumination, warning noises, nothing. From what I understand this means that the PTCM isn't talking to the BCM.

A simple experiment would be to buy a second hand PTCM but it would appear that these are the proverbial unicorn unless I want to give someone in America $500 for an unknown part, a risk I can't afford to take.

I did take the car to someone who has the right Chrysler software but basically they found the car wasn't communicating when they plugged it in.

Would appreciate advice about what my next move should be...as currently stumped.

Thanks!
