Finally got ahead enough on the two project Crossfires today that
@QuadPrism and I tackled a major annoyance on my 04 SSB. Ever since installing some new exhaust components, the car has had this awful rattle that makes the whole thing sound like a terrible jalopy at idle, and had a really strange loud rattle on decels. Car sounds like a complete piece of junk. It's loud! This has been going on for nearly 6 months. Today was the day. We were going to stomp this stupid noise out. After getting the car up in the air, I got under it with it running. Clanging away loudly, the noise was isolated to the right side pipe alongside the transmission pan. Sounded like a bolt was rattling inside the pipe. Turned the car off, and William crawled under shaking the exhaust pipe wildly. Rattle came back. Now it sounded like it was up at the exhaust manifold. Well almost. Wouldn't you know it? The #^!%@ O2 sensor had simply backed out and was rattling away! Tightened it up, no more rattle. Took 10x as much work getting the car up in the air than it did to fix. Anyway, happy Crossfire owner again. Check the simple stuff!
