They all seem to last 4-5 years (which is typical) and my driving habits closely align with yours. (Note: I will state that the original OEM battery in my 2007 Coupe lasted 9 years!). And you can spend as much as you want when purchasing a replacement battery. Just make sure you look to see what fill date is shown on the battery Avoid any that have sat on a battery shelf or rack in an auto parts store for several months. I always look for a battery that is no longer than 1-2 months since original filling with electrolyte.

I haven't tried an AGM-version battery yet as I'm not convinced the added cost is money well spent. Others can chime on this that have experience with AGM-design batteries.
Isn't it mainly Johnson Controls the main manufacturer these days? Yes it is just luck of the draw and you are basically buying the warranty. The original parts almost always last longer except for the RCM and crankshaft position sensor. The first set of tires always last longer too!
